Connected through values

Connected Through Values

For all of our differences and diversity, we all connect at the root of values. Values are the core principles of living that human beings share. Growing evidence suggests that everyone is interconnected through the values we describe as:

values

          • freedom
          • love
          • truth
          • tolerance
          • responsibility
          • fairness
          • respect for life
          • unity

If we wish to have vibrant leadership in organizations it will be we who create it from within.

People are the organization, without people, there isn't one.In order to "grow our own" we need to become more aware of ourselves and our organizations. Make no mistake. There is an intricate relationship between vibrant leadership and human values which deeply impacts organizational decision-making and sustainability.

Let’s consider a broad perspective: It is human beings that innovate and create, not "organizations". People come together and "organize" when they have a common purpose. People work together to achieve the purpose of the "organization" when they believe and see themselves in it. People are the organization, without people there isn’t one.

As people in organizations we’ve learned that:

  • A formal leadership title or position does not make a person a "leader".
  • A person who does not hold a formal leadership title or position can often be a "leader".
  • It is easy to follow a leader who shares your human values.
  • It is easy to serve an organization that values things that the pursuit of, enable you to experience your own human values.

What kind of leader are you?

What role do the core human values play in your life?
